New Cab Day, 70's Ampeg V4-B, Boom!

Anyway it turned out to be a prototype loaded with single 18 in a folded horn. I played it with a V4B in clubs for years. This cab was aso advertised having one 18" I thought the guy was confused with the Acoustic 316 cabs and I told him that and he took that out of the ad, but now you got me thinking. I think it may be an earlier one though there is not switch on the back so hopefully it's a double 15" cab.

Yup, that's the way I figure it too, I once rented one of those for an outside gig and used either a V4-B head or a B-25-B head and it sounded really good, also used one once in a club and it sounded good. If I never use it, well I do have it. I haven't used anything bigger than a 410 now for several years, in fact I haven't used anything bigger than a single 15" since the Plague hit.....in my room at home.

This is probably a cab where an HPF is critical. AFAIK driver excursion will increase drastically as the horn begins to unload. What do you think @Stumbo

No mention of frequency response, but two are recommended for use with an SVT.

-3dB is at 80hz, -10dB is at 70hz so once it starts rolling off it's steep. You probably need the HPF pretty close to 80hz if your going to goose it with a lot of power.

The V4B isn't much of a problem, there is an impedance selector for 2, 4, and 8 ohms. The cabinet selector is more for when other amps are used. The selector being 4 or 16 ohms indicates that the two speakers are 8 ohms each and the switch wires the speakers for either series (16 ohm) or parallel (4 ohm) operation.

No I know, I'm just wondering if this cab is earlier or later than the ones with the switches, it doesn't have one and I've seen them before, I thought they were earlier but I'm not sure.
