As the previous owner of a Walter Woods MI-100-8 and Walter Woods MI-400-8 plus a burgundy Reunion Blues double bass case. I’m very fond of the color red. I still own one of Walter’s Electroacoustic Ultras and it’s also a lovely shade of red. Nice cab, very retro. Color coordination is essential to the modern bassist. What 8” driver did you choose?

This cab sounds very natural without the overstated low end that other cabs I’ve tried.
It covers 80% of my gigs as I am not a fan of upright bass and volume.
My most regular gig is at the worlds oldest jazz club, Bakers Keyboard Lounge and they have a house PA.

The red paint was an additional $30.00 and well worth it.

Good for you for choosing to dress up the exterior of the cabinet. I wouldn't worry about it getting dirty - that fancy cover should do a nice job of keeping it clean.
My most recent cabinet build has NO Rat Fur or Material covering the beautiful (stained) Baltic Birch - I treat it like a piece of fine, functional furniture... that just happens to be part of my signal chain. (It does have a cover.)

I’ve seen a lot of cabs in red like the Phil Jones and others so I was never concerned about it getting dirty , everything gets dirty if you don’t maintain it.
Even Ferraris , AC Cobras and little Red Corvettes need a little dusting off from time to time.
Don, Your cab reminds me of the Bag End and other exotic cabs from back in the day.

That little cabinet that I have with a 10” Eminence driver has a low end rolloff but is full in the upper bass (80-100hz) and I love it. It’s spray painted black and I just let it roll around in the back of the van. The Crazy 8, Wizzy 10 and several others are long gone. I still have the Acme B1s which are beautiful but the low end is often just too much.

Looks very similar to the Bag End 1-15M I owned, I loved the way it looked, and had a local tent and awning company make me a cover. In the end those 13 ply baltic birch cabinets were just way to heavy to lug around. The ones I owned used banana plugs as connectors
how weird is that!

A pair of orphaned B-15N Portaflex cabinets sounded way better to my ears. Just my take however. It's a beautiful cabinet Don.

Nothin' weird about (double) banana plugs - they remain my connector of choice on all my cabs.
(This is 9 ply Baltic - about 1/2" approx., not "light', but 3/4" would be very heavier....)

Pretty as the Bag End style cabinets are, small lightweight cabinets are just the best for hauling around and carrying out to the middle of a backyard where the client put the band next to his swimming pool. So whether it’s a red Crazy Eight or my MAS 1/8 these new cabinets sound better and allow for a one handed carry across a field. Just my take of course.

Reminds me of my '82 Arnopol cab with 15" and front port. Still solid after a rough and tumble (down escalator) thousands of gigs existence.
