New combo day gk mb112

New combo is a gk mb112 ii.
I've been schlepping a 50 plus pound swr combo for jazz combo gigs since 1995. It's a swr workingman's 12. Originally 50 lbs. It has a carvin 300w
Replacement driver (long story, when you live in Oakland, you share) so 50 plus.
This new combo is 30lbs

Not really considering we are a tiny market at the ass-end of the world. The Combo was available but not the separate powered cab. I've already got a good small amp and just needed a more powerful one for bigger gigs. I'd have like the two separate 12's as I could take both to a gig and decide there whether one was enough. Now i've got to decide before I leave home whether to take the small one or the big one. Oh well.

That's how I would describe my 212. I actually don't really like it at lower volumes however the top-end seems to be less intrusive at higher volumes.

That may be, but we really are very isolated on the bottom end of the globe....... therefore, ass-end. But there aren't too many places I'd rather be right now.

Yeah, I had to let my SWR WM 12 & 15 combos go due to weight. I have a class D & SWR 12"cabinet, 32lbs & SWR 15 cab 45 lbs. I mainly use the 12" cab. We have a outdoor gig 2 or 3 times per year that I use the 15". I ask for help moving it!!

I wanted a GK MB-112. Ended up with the MB-115 instead. I didn't like it. It was bulky and heavy. Sound was less full. At least that is what I seem to remember. I ended up selling it and going with a Genzler amp and small 2x8 cab which has been great.

Though I still have a hankerin' for an MB-112 plus the matching amplified extension.

Oh, and the SWR sound is more of a mid-scoop at 220 Hz where GK scoops at about 500 Hz. You'll probably hear more meat/body with the GK due to the increase in output in the 200 hz region.

Love the MB112’s I had with the matching MBP cab. Was extremely disappointed with it IME so I ended up selling the MBP and put money towards an MB212 combo. Then later sold off the 112 for an MB108 which was perfect for my tonal needs (punchy while still clear and soft on the high end with not much stress when plugging in an active bass).

Best decision I ever made. Congrats!

Personally, I am not really a fan of the big chromey letters on the front. Might be a little too big.
I'd remove them TBH. :ninja:

But hey, if it sounds good, then it is good. right? :thumbsup:
