Hey there ladies and gents.
I reside in Australia and about 8 years ago, I bought my first Australian made amp.. the Lab Systems SS600.
As soon as I plugged that amp in, I knew I had found my sound.
Since then, I've managed to acquire the VP600S. The VP600HP. The 800b bi-amp. All of which i use with either Markbass 152 or 410 and occasionally the Genz Benz 610xb2.
Now I'd like to show you my mint condition Lab Systems 130s bass combo.
It has a 15" speaker. 300 watts @ 4ohms..
It was purchased brand new in Perth Western Australia around 20 years ago by a young lad for his school project. Once the project was completed, it was stored in his wardrobe until last week.
His wife wanted cash for late night shopping and I was in need for a combo so out came $500 AUS...
There is not a scratch on this little beauty.
I took it to rehearsal. Everyone was stunned that I didn't bring my big rig and I received some criticisms for not doing so.
We played several Pink Floyd songs, One of these Days, Wish you were Here. Meddle. Shine on. Money. Comfortably numb. Time. Another Brick and just for fun a few Iggy Pop songs.
This little beauty didn' miss a beat.
I could dial in the same, familiar tones as I usually do with the big rigs.
It kept up with the TD25 drums, Keys, saxophones and 3 guitars.
I used my Fender Players Series P bass and Ibanez 405sqm.
Totally impressed and so glad I bought it.
It' not as light as today's combos but I guess you dont get light weight with 20years old solid state and heavy driver magnets.
By the end of rehearsal, criticisms were forgotten and positive comments about tone and presence were abundant.
I doubt it'll replace the big rigs but it will get used at home and some small events..and I'll probably use the Maton JB4 with it too just to keep it all Aussie.
Thank you for your time.
