I like 'em. The reason I haven't worn any in years is that they have virtually zero padding. They got no soul. Ha!

But now that Nike has added squishy stuff to make them walk softer and vented them somewhat I may have to give them a try again.

yeah i remember those days. my parents still thought they cost too much so they bought me a pair of Kids... I was so mad. Friends laughing at your shoes. My parents FINALLY broke down, but bought me Chuck Taylors... (Friends laughing at your shoes... AGAIN).

I was helping my dad load up his F250 and make trips to the dump a few weeks back so I put on an old pair of Chucks that I could mess up. I was doing a lot of jumping down from the bed onto the pavement and by the end of the day the soles of my feet were killing. I could barely walk. Chucks are not good jumpin' sneaks.

That's another reason the JPs are good, they have a thick cushioned sole, very comfortable. I don't use them for walking much, I have proper shoes for that.

Heh. Used to live near the outlet store, and get factory seconds out of a bin for $5 a pair. Least comfortable sneakers ever, but an iconic look.

I never had a pair of Converse shoes as a kid or even Red Ball Jets or P. F. Flyers. My mom bought me cheap shoes and I would wear them until they fell apart; but, I never complained because I knew my parents did not have much money.
