Spector are for the most part 35" scale
OK so I put them on yesterday I first noticed the ribbon wrap is not as tight they have a small amount of grip and O man I do like these!
they have plenty of bite & have a nice meaty tone when you dig in & I could take the action pretty low.I'm not able to post sound clip cuz I am computer stupid but I can post pics.I really like them the big test will be this weakened. the silk is way more purple it was under florescent bulbs.

I bought out all the 105-45 (orange bag) 4 string sets.. they have all others still in stock. This was the store near the airport btw.
BTW, here are closeups of the strings on the EBMM bass I played.. Look like typical flats to me with a bit of a taper rather than butted up end to end.

I have never played half rounds, but I would assume that half wounds would be slightly raised? tell me if I'm wrong. the EB flats though the ribbon wrap is not touching tight together it still is smooth. but maybe half rounds are smooth also?Flatwound here is a misnomer; they're really more akin to half rounds ( at least the B & E ). I like half rounds so this is fine to me. It also helps explain the brighter tone.
They're not slightly raised. They basically look like these:I have never played half rounds, but I would assume that half wounds would be slightly raised? tell me if I'm wrong. the EB flats though the ribbon wrap is not touching tight together it still is smooth. but maybe half rounds are smooth also?
OK, so then in the world of flats there may be a wider allowance that still can be called flats? They're not slightly raised. They basically look like these:

Halfrounds are smooth but can be grabby based on what they're made of. The pure nickel D'Addario halfrounds are sticky.
Something like that. I think strings that are generally considered halfrounds start as rounds and then are ground down. The same with pressurewounds, but the grinding process keeps going till they're flat.OK, so then in the world of flats there may be a wider allowance that still can be called flats?

Pressure wounds are not ground, the outer wrap winding is "pressed" from round to ovoid as the last stage before actually being wound onto the string layer stack (hence the name)Something like that. With flatwounds, I think a flat ribbon is wrapped around the core and the space between the wraps varies. Farther on these and rotosounds and closer together on most other flats.
I'm speaking strictly out of my behind but I think that's the deal.
I know. I misspoke.Pressure wounds are not ground, the outer wrap winding is "pressed" from round to ovoid as the last stage before actually being wound onto the string layer stack (hence the name)

NOT /\/\3 playing there !!!!!! lol--- I'm editing the post to make that more clear!Interesting, it looks like a roundwound cobalt string with flat ribbon wrapped around it.
Great sound and playing, /\/\3phist0.
After a solid 22 minutes of testing, I've reached a definitive conclusion of "meh".I like em. Very middy. Flexible. Not sticky. Good so far. We'll see.
