Double Bass New end pin, too small for socket

Hi recently snapped my custom wooden end pin and decided to get a new glasser carbon fiber unit. It's smaller than the tapered hole in the bass by about 3-4mm. I wonder if there is any simplish fix for this or is it better to send it back and try something else?

People do shim them with sandpaper and other things, but that doesn't necessarily mean that you should. I'd send it back and have a pro properly fit a replacement. It isn't that expensive. I really like the Ulsa 1/2" hollow-steel unit that was installed on my bass four or five years ago. Cost me less than $100.

I probably wasn't clear. It's the opposite problem, I need to make it bigger as just rattles around inside the socket.

Kungfu means use sandpaper as a shim, I think. Take a picture of the hole and endpins.

Those Glasser endpins have relatively small sockets. You'd be better off to take your bass to a DB luthier to fit an Ulsa like the the sheriff described.

There is no standard size of endpin plug and there will be some delicate work involved!

Ah. I get it now. What you mean to say is that the socket is too small for the hole in the bottom block. Yes, what Jake said.
