Double Bass New Engelhardt ES9

Took the plunge and bout a new ES9 from Jerry Fretwell, can't wait for it to get here. I took the time to read all kinds threads here on the subject, alot of negatives, and some positives but what sold me was the one I played, it was outstanding, just hope mine is the same caliber. Anybody have anything good to say about these basses. One question that came up after the purchase is the purfling ebony or just painted on? Thanks guys for all your help in deciding which bass to buy.

Congrats on your new bass! Post pics when you get it. I'm not sure, but I think on that one you get an ebony board and inlaid purfling. Jerry can give you all the specs. I think the Innovations are a good choice. I changed them out with Spiros on my Kay recently and think I should go back. They seem to work well on my Old Kay.

I just got my first non-CCB, and it (an Engel EM-1) looks good, and plays really well. I think Engelhardt is doing some running changes, as my particular bass came with a flamey-type back, and had an aircraft cable tailgut, as opposed to the wire one I was expecting to have to replace immediately. My bass is furpled (painted purfling), but I don't know if this remains true with the ES series as well.
I hope you are as pleasantly surprised as I was!
Thought I'd include a couple of snappies of mine. Yes, I know the strings are on wrong.;)
