New Epifani UL901

If I could chime in. I purchased the 901 and the new DIST 210 cab. I had a gig the day after I received it. Unbeknownst to me, a bass player was in the audience. When he was leaving the event, he gave someone his card, and asked me to call him. I thought he wanted me to call him with intentions of hiring my band. When I called him, is when I learned that he was a bassist. He said to me, that I had the best live tone he had ever heard, his wife who was with him, agreed. He asked whether he could come over to hear it again. I without my wife’s knowledge allowed him to come to my house to hear my rig. After about 30 minutes of playing through my rig, he ordered the amp and cab. I asked him what had he been using and he said Aguilar. He sold all of his Aguilar gear. The new Epi gear is the best he has made. It is very transparent and will expose your shortcomings. But, your bass tone, will come through loud and clear. Finally, No Treble and Bass Guitar magazines both reviewed this rig. They both gave the new Epi gear the highest ratings that could be given. It’s the real deal.

Bump, Epifani filled me in on the watts at 8ohm, 500+. How is the noise floor on this amp? Some Piccolo amps got bad reviews because of that.

I have a full Aguilar DB751 rig, Markbass Classic 300 rig and a new UL901 rig.

The UL901 has a low level hiss through the cabinets regardless of the gain/master level, I measured it at about 29dBa at 1m.

The UL901's hiss is much lower level than the DB751's fans (ugh!) or the Classic 300's noise level.

I played a Bergantino Forté at a shop, which had level dependent noise that crossed the UL901's at low volumes (think home practice).

I can understand how the hiss could be annoying because it's always present (unless muted), but it's a non-issue compared to other products on the market in my view.

EDIT: I noticed an issue with the cabling of my UL901, and upon fixing it, the noise level is significantly improved compared to the original time I wrote this post.

Thanks a lot for this information. I played a MB Little Marcus 1000watts last week, that amp had a pretty high noise floor, that got significantly higher when the gain and master were pushed, same as the EBS Reidmar 750.

Quietest noise floor on tested amps up til now: Trickfish .5 bullhead Glockenklang Steamhammer and Mesa Subway D800. The Aguilar amps have terrible noisy fans.

I will order the Epifani UL901 next week, and give that amp a test.
