Double Bass New EUB player with an Santini EUB

I' got my hands on a Santini, EUB and just started lesson with a DB teacher, but I'm wondering about getting it to play & sound better. I've see a few tips on getting a differrent bass to play better, but other than the few Santini posts here, thats about it on the Web. It seems like the add on "shoulder" is not much good for resting against. Suggestions? I know I have bad strings on it & will try the suggestions here to swap/improve sound. Just wondering if the are more Santini owners out there and if my cause to learn UB is not lost? TIA Dubliner

Merci Francois. Unfortunately they were the only references that I could find, never the less, they shed some insight. Perhaps the other 5 Santini owners in the world may hear of my plight :-). For what its worth, I have used the Palatino advice to adjust it so far. As I said I'm learning UB so stance & grip is a little new to me. It seems the bolt on "shoulders' only serve for looks and I think I might come up with a contoured offset rest that is a little easier on the ribs and keeps the fretboard in plane. I'll post my progress should it serve to help someone else - Dubliner
