New fender for slap/funk

Which one of these do you think would be better for more of a funky style of play?

I get the feeling that the only real difference is the electronics. Is the deluxe really worth $170 more?

youre probably right about there only being a difference basically in the electronics... for slap? I would go with the active one... but its pretty much just if you prefer an active or a passive bass.. both will WORK for funk/slap.
