New fender standard series!

I see mixed opinions on the new Indonesian standard line, maybe I got lucky but I bought a precision several months back, and it's superb! I change pickups always, but not here, and it setup very well with a awesome neck! I played a jazz today and it was equally as good! I was pleasantly surprised! They seem very nice, probably 20 gigs in!

You will probably find that a lot of the negative opinions come from those who haven’t actually tried one.

A lot has been made of the fact that they’re made at the same factory as Squiers, and that the specs seem similar at first glance. This has made some people suppose erroneously that the Standard series models are in fact rebadged Squiers.

Since this supposition has now been disproved, and more people have actually tried the Standards, the hue and cry has largely died down.

Looks like you have a winner there, congrats!

Just a question: does the fretboard have a gloss finish or is it satin like the back of the neck?
I cannot tell from the picture but I would guess it is all satin (except the body of course).

I tried a jazz bass from that same new series and it was perfect in every way : nice sound, top notch quality, neck was perfectly straight, action was low and playability at the top. As a bonus, no fret sprouts.

Way better than all the MIM basses in stock in that same store that day ! And at a lower price at that !

Nice Cort!

I'm sure the new indonesian standards are just fine. Personally I'm cheap as hell though, so you'll never catch me playing a fender. Awesome that you're happy with it- that's what matters most. There's something about white basses that just always look great to me.

I’ve played both the jazz and precision models. Not bad, but honestly not a $600 bass. Sure, they’ll sell a bunch of them. Just felt like they did the bare minimum and slapped the logo on them. I’m a Fender guy, but I don’t get their continual push to drive prices up on everything they make. Guess that’s why I have not purchased any new Fenders in a while.
