I'm very interested in this is as well. That demo from Pedals & Effects really sparked it. The fact that it has that patch bay built in to it too is REALLY cool. I would love to try one.
I suppose if I wanted to make music no one would listen to or understand, this would be at the top of my list. Wow, I'm no luddite and I have a huge collection of electronic music albums going back to the 60's, but I can't for the life of me figure out why any bassist would want this pedal. If I were a synth player, guitarist, DJ or electronic musician, I would love it, but what happens to the groove the second a bassist kicks this one on?
I think it's quite possible to groove with an envelope filter, but to each his own.
True, but this one seems like so much more than a simple envelope filter. I don't know man....seems like a lot of pedal for bass, but admittedly, I'm a simple player. I don't get into ambient soundscapes or experimental music at all.
From the looks of it it can do all of the "vanilla" filter duties (static, manual swept, envelope swept, LFO swept) and from there it can get a little "far out" with some creative patching possibilities, like sending the Env to control LFO rate. Using it that way might kill a groove, but it's just one use scenario out of many.
I should point out, @MGR that it's actually pretty rare, to have a filter pedal that allows so many ways to sweep the cutoff (static, manual/expression, envelope, LFO).
There are a few others out there but it's exciting to see a new one. The exact character of the filter will make it or break it for me, they're all different and some sound way better than others, I hope this one makes the cut!

This was really popular at our shared NAMM booth. It takes the filter from the Fatman and goes 90 steps further. It's definitely a swiss army knife of funk.
Not taking anything away from this pedal. In fact, my critique is rooted in the fact that it has so many features. But I could never dream of finding a real-world musical use for those features that the pedal is rendered useless for me. I'm not en env filter guy, but if I was, I'd buy an old MXR one knob jobbie. Yeah, I kind of wish I kept my Xerograph Deluxe for that. I have a Manta, but I want the option of an expression pedal sweep.

Back in the Day, the hi-fi guys used to sort receivers by the KPI Factor. This apparatus has a very high KPI factor, and therefore should be nearly irresistible. (KPI= Knobs Per Inch)
Xerograph is far and away the best sounding filter I've tried (for me, don't want to start a fight in here)! I wish @Taylor Livingston would make a deluxe deluxe. I actually don't care about LFOs too much, unless they can be tempo synced and clock divided
but more control over the envelope sweep speed would be a nice add.Anyways, I keep buying filters and the Xerogaph keeps dispatching them to the island of misfit filter boxes.
I really should give the Manta a spin too...
