I had a big reply going as a come-back.. My computer must have edited the reply I had ready to post.. Kept me from puttin my foot in it.. 
Hey anderbass:
I checked out your thread on your Mesa Amp.. I didn't think there was a glass bottle amp out there with that many 6L6 tubes in it..
I'm a BiG fan of SVT Amps.. Back in the '70's all the touring stages had one-if-not two of them.. Many of those stages would save up their amp maintenance till they reached the coast..
I worked for a store called the Musicstop back then.. I was the service manager. I would anticipate their arrival and order lots of 6550's and 12DW7 triodes and parts that would normally not be found on Fender Amps..
Setting the bias on those big Amps was the key behind gettin those anchors to run night-in-and-night-out.. When those amps are runnin right they draw 15 amps outta the supply.. Then some stage hand decides to power up two keyboard amps, along with them and the supply voltage goes down to 105 volts and then the 6550's start to glow ReD.....
