Well, Im not looking for a Jazz Bass in particular, Infact I dont even really like jazz basses that much, but I love the feel and sound of a sadowsky...

More or less I am thinking mostly of either a Sadowsky or a Nordstrand, I would really like the Nordstrand, but am not shure mainley because all the options I want, I cant really afford...

Tim,

Roscoes have 24 frets. You can get a basic one for $2k, or a real nice used one for about $1700. I love mine; been playing it as my main bass for about 12 years. Elricks come to mind also, especially used. They have 24 frets and come with the zero fret also. Cool.

NORDSTRAND!

I just finished spec'ing mine last friday and the body was to be glued today. This will be my 2nd Nord.
It's a NJ4 Deluxe and it's total price is about what you have stated you have to spend!(I've waited 9 months, and now it's just a matter of time before it's finished!......my other NJ4 deluxe may be for sale...PM if you interested)

Also for that price it's spec'd to what you like!

Someone on Bassgear.com is selling a Matt Pulcienna Guitars Level 4 for $900. They have 24 frets, and definatley in your range. If it's anything like my Level 5, it's going to be a KILLER bass for the price. Just ask me, or Zon4John, he just picked up a Level 5 also.

Yeah, I know...

I am a Fisherman also but... Im not that patient!!!

Well, I think I may have decided to go with a "Plain Jane" Nordstrand... Of course Actual construction will be some time from now, I have to decide if I can REALLY afford to wait longer and get the NJ Deluxe or Just the Standard NJ. If I can get the Deluxe what woods... Etc...

i'm kind of surprised that no one has mentioned curbow. i think the international exotic petite may be beyond your price (at least it lists much more than that), but there is also a non-exotic petite and the m-series.

i also haven't seen any votes for conklin. is he that expensive, too? i've seen some really nice 4s from him, especially a singlecut that recently showed its melted face on here.

maybe this is just a company man shill, but you could also spend much less than $2k and buy a really nice, new peavey cirrus; they're well under a grand used. i don't know that you'd consider it in the same league as a nordstrand, but it's worth considering nevertheless.

but what do i know -- i am not in the market for a bass that expensive, so i'm not familiar with what i'd be looking for on a bass that expensive.

Yeah, Like I said, I have a Peavey Cirrus, but I think I decided on a Nordstrand, Because I really want a Custom Bass, and the Nordstrand basses are One of my favorite basses EVER! I want to be able to pick the wood, the Size, the Pups, he Color and Not just settle for one that "Has better pain then the other xxxxxx" ya know what I mean?

makes perfect sense to me. Adrian is selling a really sweet looking nordstrand sc5 that hasn't failed to impress everyone i've shown it to. it's just so incredible looking, and from what i've heard of his pickups, it likely sounds incredible, too.

i can't wait for his P and MM pickups. i would consider owning a smaller p-inspired nordstrand, and rumour has it somethign like that is in the works. i may try a marchlewski first, though.

A bass equipped with a Jazz and a MM built/wound by Carey will have more than enough tones to last a lifetime!
Just remember if you choose to go with a Standard NJ4 you can also have a 1 piece body...something like Zebrawood, Paduak, Bubinga......then who really needs a top?
