Hi lady’s and gents, I’m Kyle. I’ve sort of been looking at posts and articles on this site for what seems like ages, but I’m finally taking the plunge into buying my first bass so I figured I’d sign up and get take some knowledge from you experienced low end chaps and chapettes.
I’ve been playing rhythm guitar, mostly punk rock and alternative for about 14 years, took a hiatus from bands and music in general for a few years and finally got back into it about 2 years ago, except no bands this time, I’ve been doing a bit of bedroom producing, nothing much, just me, my Strat and some software, but using work arounds and programming bass in Ableton isn’t great, so I decided it’s time to pick up a bass, not only that I decided I didn’t want to just play bass to purely fill out my recordings, I want to learn the instrument and be somewhat proficient at it.
The reason I’ve signed up here is basically to learn some tips about gear, ask stupid newbie gear related questions from more experienced folk, and just general banter.
Right now, I’m bass-less but that’ll change by either Friday or next week, I’m a fan of fender style instruments and seen some pretty decent deals on used Squier jazz and p basses, hopefully you lot will guide me beyond that too.
