if I had $1500, i'd look for a used Bongo 5 and a used Carvin SB5000 on TB classifeds. Then I'd live on granola bars, Kraft Dinner, foraged berries and Polar seltzer till I'd saved up the overage.

Get the BTB...you will not regret it!! That being said, your 1500 can go a really long way on the used market too.

+1 I've got a Q5 myself with Bartolini preamp and pu's; sounds and plays great but like most 5 strings its a bit heavy.

+1 I've also got a Modulus Q5 that I've played for the last 13 years. It's an amazing bass that will not disappoint! I think that you pick one up used that's within your price range.
