Hey everybody, I'm a new member and I look forward to learning a lot from this forum!
Right now I'm faced with acquiring a new head. I play out with my band basically weekly and we'll be headed out on tour shortly, and after months of suspicion I have been told that my amp is not loud enough (despite the master volume being fully up.) Right now I'm running through an Ampeg B2-RE (450 solid state W at 4 ohms) and I need to upgrade. I play through an Ampeg 8x10, but soon I will be playing through 2 Avatar cabinets.
I have been doing a lot of research as of late, and after months of viewing this board I decided to get an account and ask for your opinions. Some standards that the amp needs to meet:
-(Obviously) It needs to be louder than the amp I have now.
-It needs to be able to run at both 4 ohms and 8 ohms.
-It needs to be relatively cheap (700-1000 dollars). It can be more than that if it's available at Guitar Center (I love the "Dont Pay for One Year" deal
) but not by too much.
I am open to getting a rack set-up, I just need to be pointed in the right direction as to power-amps and pre-amps, as I know absolutely nothing about them. Thanks a lot!
