I agree the mids in the 400+ should be plenty. But I have also owned the GK 1001RB and the Mesa M6 Carbine. I love both the 1001 and the M6 they both have a lot of articulation, the M6 sounds similar to the 1001 but slightly warmer. Plus the presets make it easy to dial in the tone you need. I would also talk to Don at LDS (lowdownsound.com) he can build you a custom cab cheaper than most production cabs out there.

Carvin just dropped the price of their B1500 to $599. Can't go wrong with that head for what you need - especially at that price.

Yeah, I've got one of those on the way (hopefully next week). I gigged the B1500 for quite a while a couple of years back, and it always delivered the goods. I just had to try the B2000. How could I not?

I'm gonna also say go with a Carvin B1500 or the new B2000

Quick story:

I was selling my Mesa Powerhouse 2X15 locally.

A guy came over to look at it for his nephew. He brought along his own Demeter Pre/Crown Poweramp setup to put through it's paces.

After, he tried my B1500 with the cab and was so impressed with the B1500 that he is recommended his nephew find one to power the cab.
