New here and new to bass playing..

Hello all, I’ve just started playing the bass and have a lovely fender mex jazz and a fabulous mark bass amp. I’m really musical and play by ear mostly. I’m trying to learn slap specifically but I can’t get my fingers to pop the strings..just does not sound right. I’ve been looking at you tube tutorials but they seem to focus more on the thumb and muting...any tips please??

Welcome Linzy. I do not slap or pop, so I am unable to point you in the right direction... but certainly, someone will chime in and give you some sound advice... no pun intended.
