New Here- What is GAS?

Hi...my name is James and I'm a recovering gasaholic (pause for the obligatory "hi James")

My last bass purchase was in mid 2010, so I am doing well with managing my addiction. This is further evidenced by the fact that I recently walked away from a black Stingray that a pawnshop was gonna let me take for under $800. For cable viewers, it was the shop where they film "Hard Core Pawn".

I did have a relapse in 2011 when I purchased a Markbass rig. I atoned by selling off all my SWR cabs, Crown amps and Alembic preamps, so I parted with more than I took in.

GAS can be controlled.

Really. You mean american jewerly had or has something that isn't junk?
I thought I was going to end up on the show. They ....well the one guy with the pointy gotee that is not one of the owners family kept trying to sell me off brand stuff. Most of it was j b player or affinity. He was yelling these are professional basses. I laughed, he laughed and, all the camera men walked away. They yell at you and try to get you to blow your cool.
that cured my g.a.s. that day. They cut the parts where they yell or say really rude things to people.

I was surprised, too. I went in looking for a cheap upright. My youngest son has been playing for almost two years now and we've been renting one for him. Figured if I found something useable in a pawnshop I could score a cool Christmas gift and give the rental back. The Stingray was a total surprise.

There were people dressed as Batman and Superman in the store at the time so the camera people were occupied and I managed to stay under the radar. Once I realized the one upright they had was a total joke AND I decided to pass on the Ray I bolted out of there. No need to witness whatever trainwreck they were concocting.

I really don't think she'll even notice if I add a SansAmp RBI to my rack... right? Naah, she won't even notice. I hope.

:p

I snuck a custom bass into the house back in '04. Kept it in my music room, completely out of sight. For my birthday, my wife baked me a cake.....in the shape of a guitar.......decorated to look EXACTLY like the bass that I thought I had hidden so well.

Does your wife bake? What would an RBI cake look like?

Everyone talks about it, everyone (apparently) has it, and no one is ashamed of how loud it is...but what exactly is it?
