new home practice rig: BLACKSTAR 20W

Heh, very cool that Blackbox Revelation! I like that loose blues feel a lot. Check out his right hand technique :smug:, cool to see where that loose sound is coming from. Good to come across some new music, after becoming a dad and starting my own business I sort of lost touch with what's going on on the outside...:p

Btw, (sorry, have to re-rail for a sec) I now realize I don't really want the amount of overdrive that's in that first Triggerfinger clip. Something halfway between that and clean is would be perfect while keeping the volume moderate enough for at home. You know, a very noticable rough edge, especially when I dig in with a pick. It's hard to put into words, it's just that I realize the overdrive in that clip is a bit much for a basic od sound. I have tons of pedals to ad to that sound anyway. So... you think half of that overdrive is doable for home use with the Blackstar?

Also, I know very little about the differences among tubes, that's something to get into I guess, I basically don't know what I like I suppose.

Later! B.

I have a BOSS digital recorder with a mic built in it. I don't know if it's decent quality enough, but this weekend I'll try to learn to use that recorder. I'm very clumsy at recording.
Or I can borrow my dad's camera to make a video.

I play fretless and I don't play with a pick, so maybe that's why I didn't get that rough edge sound.

The Blackstar has lots of overdrive/distortion in it, don't worry about that.

In other amp news: I might trade up (or trade down) my GK/Hartke rig for a new Ampeg PF500 + 2 PF115 cabs.
So I'll have a cool decent 1x15 cab to also use with the Blackstar.

And more amp GAS, now that I got a taste for tubes I want a Marshall JMP 1992. I'm a Motorhead fan, and I really dig the bass sound in the solo on Lost In The Ozone.
