I noticed he finally moved away from the Badass II bridge he's been using forever in favor of a Babicz.

Really? Did you know Cort makes the Skylines for Lakland? Call them low budget or whatever, but they make some fantastic instruments. Manufacturing has changed a lot in recent years.

Add to that, Jeff said this was a custom shop deal, so I'm sure it's way nicer than the off-the-shelf Cort's.
Greg Curbow..R.I.P. ...told me last time I saw him that he was well pleased with his deal and Cort Curbow products from CORT.

It's Jeff Berlin's signature model, not Mr. Walker's. Berlin likes light weight, Bart's, passive, high-mass bridge, and inexpensive. The Palledium and the Dean JB aren't available so this fills the niche (however narrow that niche might be). I can't imagine what would be fresher and maintain his choices.

I know they are not a bad producer... that wasn't really my point I have lots of "Made in Korea" instruments, nothing wrong with them.Nono, by any means... It's his signature model, and it's sure going to be sold to quite a few fans, and I don't mind at all. It's just my personal opinion, and I am pretty sure Jeff Berlin would allow me to have it and bless me, too *hehe* He's got a lot of opinions and voice them pretty heavily, too

I wonder how many bassists know who Jeff Berlin is? I would think they would tend to be older guys that would prefer to spend money on a more expensive bass rather than a budget bass. Maybe not, just speculating out loud.

I picked up a used dean jeff berlin player (the chinese version - active DMT pickups from teh edge line, cheaper body wood, same neck/tuners, heavy bridge but it's a roller style).
Plays great - low low action. My bass teacher was even impressed (he managed the tour of BX3 - berlin, hamm and sheehan).
I've heard of and seen cort guitars...don't know how they really are, just associate them with cheap. Same with dean but the one I picked up is like new and I like it. I can change the bridge and pickups and still have $1400 less in it than the US made JB model from dean - just the type of thing Jeff would appreciate, I"m sure
Cort makes instruments for many many brands, claim a 30% market share worldwide with factories in korea, china and other places. As Les Claypool sings, 'everything's made in china'. And not everything made in china has to be 'crap'. Didn't they send a probe to the moon recently? Apple makes most of their stuff in china.
As for the bad ass II bridge, you can't buy them anymore. Babicz is the 'replacement' or substitute being sold.

I couldn't care less what bass Jeff plays as long as he's happy. And he apparently is.
