You're right about needing to play them, for that kind of money who wouldn't! I don't think the soundclips on Mike's website do them any justice either, I'm fortunate enough to live close and visit the shop often, it's a treat - Mike's a great guy.
Perhaps a trip to Seattle is in order, the rain won't hurt :)

I own the first production T Bass Mike built, like all of his basses it's beautifully made and, I think a well thought out take on what a contemporary Thunderbird should be. The bolt on neck is a very secure joint, almost like a set neck really but it really does tighten up the individual notes too, mine is a single pick up bass so it wants to do that anyway.
Mike addresses upper fret access with some nice sculpting on the backside, if you look around the lower 'bout you'll see two different radii which made high notes easy to play - Not that I do much of that :)
Sound wise there are so many variations it's probably beyond me to easily compare, I do like some of Gibson's Thunderbird pickup designs a lot ( there have been at least 9 types!) in particular the ones from the '60s and '76s. I have also retro fitted Mike's into 3 basses and really like them, they're really warm, rich and growly with nice balanced output, very high quality! - which has led me to become an endorsing artist for them ( that just happened Friday so not on his website yet!) :)

Thanks for your insight - as one of (if not THE) resident Thunderbird experts, I was wondering what you thought of them. I've been eyeballing two Lull T-Birds that are currently available - one in trans. orange, the other in sunburst. I've always wanted a white T-Bird, but Mike's transparent finishes are so nice, it would be a shame to hide all of that beautiful mahogany grain.
Congrats on your endorsement deal! BTW, just watched a few of your videos, and you guys (and girls) are very entertaining. :bassist:

Imagine this, I work right next door to Mike's shop. Hoo boy, talk about temptation.:crying:

But, it's a temptation that I have to resist in order to keep my marriage intact.
