New made in China Ampeg

That's exactly why they didn't tell you that. They are paying cents per hour for labor over there instead of dollars per hour here. Did Ampeg pass all those great savings on to you? I doubt it. Without getting all political about it, Ampeg sold out to China, the quality will drop in both the product and the customer service and anything else that goes with it, time will prove this correct. Send it back and get something else and yes you have to do research before buying anything if being made here is important to you. Don't believe all that "buyer beware" crap, that's just somebody trying to rationalize screwing you.

P.S. Even ones that are made here, most likely all the little pieces and parts they are made from are made somewhere else but hey, at least they have a building here and they write paychecks to Americans, who then spend them at Walmart and continue the downward spiral towards eventual economic collapse and complete loss of sovereignty.
The only problem with that is, I think Ampeg were the last to go overseas with the combos. Pro quality you can still get here, but Eden, GK, SWR, Ampeg, Hartke, Fender you name it. The combos are all built somewhere else.

True, I'd have to check but I think Ampeg moved most of the line o'seas. You're right though, most any combo and most of the entry level and what I guess you'd call medium grade heads from just about any company are outsourced. Carvin is the only one I can think of that still makes their entire line of amplification here, there may be others. I think quite a bit of your "top-of-the-line" stuff is still here, talking mainstream, widely available (at least with shipping if not in-store) companies, Eden, GK, etc.

Jesus, you guys are so straight up and down.

I was being sarcastic and highlighting the entirely redundant nature of the OP’s whinging about his product coming from China. If anything, Chinese made electronics are of higher standard than electronics made anywhere else in the world. Look inside your internet-machine recently? Where are all the parts made?

What? did someone post something that doesn't agree with your world view, or aren't we Yanks allowed to support our own economy ? Maybe I'm missing some light hearted piece of humor that you could explain here... really, I'm waiting...

SM

Sure did Yankee! Feel free to support your own economy – I know that I love buying European gear (Celinder, Ritter, Drozd, ETS, Glockenklang – why wouldn’t I :D). That said I’ll call it out every single time someone posts something tacitly racist. Have a nice day now!

There is no room for nationalism or racism on this site. It is clearly broken because it's broken.

It is okay buddy, just read my post again and set the voice in your head to “dripping with sarcasm” then you’ll get it. We totally agree with each other.

Am I the only one that read the post that garned the above reply as a very clear example of sarcasm?

Ye Gawds! Someone gets it! Hurrah! Get out the streamers :D

Frankly, an ugly motive was assigned here, and I don't believe it was warranted.

Oh god, you again: No, he was being racist and I pointed it out. I don’t see how that’s an ugly motive. You whinge about me putting words in the OPs mouth, but whose mouth are you putting words in now? You’re the worst kind of hypocrite.

but lots of room for PC.

Officer Toasted of the PC Police reporting for duty, sir.

Ampeg sold out to China, the quality will drop in both the product and the customer service and anything else that goes with it, time will prove this correct.

There is absolutely no reason why that should happen. As I said before, electronics made in China are of higher quality than electronics made just about anywhere else in the world. Look at your TV, your PC, your car, your mobile phone, your PDA, your microwave.

Yeah, as if he needed any help....

A breath of sanity!

To clarify, it will be poor quality because that is what Ampeg now stands behind. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Nothing to do with China.
