Double Bass New MAS 18.5 Version 2

I know this is a dead thread and speaker box and noone could care less but...I was super unhappy with the MAS18 last night in this loud concrete and glass restaurant, it was loud but totally indistinct and hard to hear. During the break I went onto the fancy bathroom and took a couple of their cloth hand towels and stuffed the ports of the 18. Damn thing tightened right up. Anybody have any experience plugging the ports on these boxes to get a more directional sound?

I never did that but I did always have mine in a chair when I used it.

I did routinely bottom it out. I really loved mine when I had it but wouldn't trade it for the barefaced cabinet I now have.

@crd what do you prefer about the Barefaced? and which do you have?
I use the Big Baby. I think I could have gone smaller but figured better safe than sorry. I have never gone anywhere near pushing this speaker and sometimes I play in some very loud (for jazz) situations. It is big but light. There are lighter options but the Barefaced 12" stuff feels like there is no compromises in tone while still being easy enough to carry.

It is so transparent. It's like playing through a high end studio monitor. The MAS speakers were always a compromise for me on the lows. I always had to run hpf. I did like how mid forward they were but I am able to get that back with eq no problem. With the Barefaced I only use a hpf if there are issues in the room. The tweeter is so smooth and transparent. Using the Felix as a preamp with this speaker you can really feel any tweak in EQ.
