I'm probably not your average new member. I'm 64 and married, with 3 adult daughters. I really love to learn new things. I don't have great ambitions for my bass playing. At some point I might like to find a group that I could jam with on weekends, just for fun.
A while back I decided that I'd just get a bass ukulele and learn to play on it. I did that for a while. I was convinced in another forum that I should consider also getting a short scale bass. That seemed to make sense, so I recently purchased a new Bronco and really, really love it. Then I purchased a Spark Mini practice amp and really love that too.
I bought the Beginner to Badass online course and I'm about halfway through it. I'd like to learn more music theory than I'm getting in that course, so I'm supplementing it with other YouTube videos. I also have been slowly going through the "Hal Leonard Bass Method" book. I think my biggest problem is that I don't have a clear learning plan. Should I just focus on completing the B2B course and let the rest of it go for now? There are just so many resources that I'm overwhelmed. Also, I do have the name and phone number of a bass instructor that I thought maybe I'd call after I finish B2B and get down some of the basics.
