New member with level zero music ability

Hello all,
I dabbled in highschool on the bass. Learned a couple riffs on a cheapo off brand bass with massive neck dive. That was 26+ yrs ago. I have recently extended my belief that I can learn anything to the musical realm. So I have started ear, bass clef, and rythm training.

I have been looking around at basses. I really liked the Jazz basses others had way back when. I Ordered a Fender player plus in sienna (pic), it came in with a dead pickup. Returned, I opted not to reorder and am now trying to decide between cheap & used or by once cry once... in other words a fender standard mim black & white with peavey 110 max amp for $325 (pic) or... a fender ultra or ultra 2 in texas tea or blue.

So, thoughts and advise?

Fender makes a few duds, I’ve had pretty good luck
More important is to get an instrument that inspires you to play

If you’re new to learning music, balance ear training and site learning with everything else. Dont get stuck using only tabs, and try to learn songs by playing parts that you listen to and attempt to play them
