Im looking to replace the nut on one of my basses. Im doing this to a Peavey. The main reason is that Im trying to go for an extremely light guage string. I like the look of the Warwick Just-a-nut, and I was wondering if anyone out there has pulled off putting the just-a -nut on a non-warwick bass. Or would it be a better idea to just get a bone nut?

Ive seen brass nuts on many basses, but honestly i've never seen a warwick nut on another bass. I believe the size might not work.

Is it a 4 or 5 string? I have an original 4 string brass adjust-a-nut that I bought years ago. Need to know nut width, height, and distance from the middle of the G slot to middle of the E slot (if a 4 banger!).
Does not apply to 5 bangers. Prices slightly higher in Alaska and Hawaii.

Sorry it took so long. I could only get rough measurements, but they seem alright to me. It seems to be about 40mm wide, and about 30mm from E to G. On basscentre.com, they have a 40mm brass just-a-nut. I wonder if that would work. Any ideas?

Width - 1.5"
Depth - 3/16"
Height - 9/32" (saddles are adjustable, of course)
String spacing - 3/8" (string center > center), 1 1/8" (G string center > E string center).

From what it sounds like, you have a 38mm nut, while im looking into getting the 40mm version. Im not sure if it will work, but its only 10 dollars and the price of glue... Im not too worried about it. Ill let you know how it turns out.
I think an original brass Adjust-A-Nut I would work better than the new plastic-y Adjust-A-Nut II.
From the looks of it... I dont even have a choice. The brass is the only one i can see that comes in different sizes. The II comes only in 38mm. I see that Warwick came out with a III... I wonder how they improved this time.
