Double Bass New old german

I got this fairly cheap, back in december. At that point I had spend a lot of time investigating to find an affordable instrument that match my style. I feel very fortunate to have found this one. It´s really scratchy but I really like the sound. It's an no name, probably 1920 Mittenwald, small 3/4 bass

Just as I gave up on ever being able to identify this instrument precisely, I stumbled upon this name printed on the bass bar. It says Thomas. Just wondered if any of you guys have ever seen that before?
Could it be the original builder or just the guy putting in a new bass bar?

The violin factories of Mittenwald, especially in the twenties, would have all had Germanic names, don't you think?

Luthiers usually write on the top in pencil or affix a paper label. I'm wondering if an owner did that?

When I replace a bass bar, I usually make my mark on it somewhere discreet. So yeah it might be a luthiers mark.
