New..... Old Kustom Cab

I just got a new, well new to me..... Kustom Cab today at Guitar Center's crazy memorial day sale. It was stuck back in a corner behind everything.

that's what got me started wanting to play bass in the 70's--hearing/feeling a p bass through a Kustom 250 head w/ 2x15 bottom-playing CCR!

It sounds really nice and can get really loud, those 2 JBL 15"s can push a lot of air.

Congrats! After seeing that, I now regret not going to any of the local GCs this morning to see what used stuff they had on sale.

Yeah they were (probably still are) giving some major discounts. They knocked $100 off on this cab for me. So it ended up being $329 with tax, not bad for a 2x15 cab.

Good deal, especially for a cool vintage cab with JBLs in it.

back in the day (71-75-ish), I used two of those with the Kustom 250 head. But mine were in Blue Sparkle. Those chrome port-hole port covers are just too cool.

Our band also had a Kustom PA. The two columns were in Silver Sparkle .. as a contrast to my Blue Sparkle cabs .. boy the 70's were verrry colorful.

Seems to me I used to see a lot of Kustom cabs with 3 15s. I saw John Fogerty a few years ago and he played the one he used at Woodstock for a couple of songs.

I made a 4x12 closed back guitar cab with EV's. That thing was heavy. Sounded like crap with a guitar too...way too clean.

Nice cabinet! Those sharp unprotected amp corners are makin' me nervous though. I hope you put your gear in a rack (or similar) soon before you rip the tuck and roll...

I was thinking the same thing as I was driving home with the cab.

Beautiful. Nothing says "rock and roll" more than a padded Kustom.

Yeap I did, I originally went in looking for a guitar cab and to see what cheap stuff they had since it was memorial day, saw the cab in the corner behind all the other stuff. I asked how much it was, they said $399, but they'd give it to me for $299, and I thought about it for a little while and decided to get it. For $399 I would have passed it by though.

Makes me want to cry..
In high school our rock band had all Kustom gear. Everything was the Kustom w/3-15's blue sparkle frankenstien's, including the 400 PA..
We sucked but sure looked cool.

Nice. I have a well-abused vintage Kustom 2x15 as my practice/living room speaker cab.
