New P bass - BAII or Bridge Cover? - POLL

I'm picking up an older H1 P bass tomorrow in Daphne blue. I have an Aerodyne Jazz Neck (1.5", I'll sell the body) I'm going to throw on there and I have a Black BAII, as well as a bulky German (Schaller I guess?) chrome bridge. I figured I could put the BAII on, or put the chrome bridge and then get a black ashtray. Photoshopped it below:

I would go with the Badass II as well. I'm not a big fan of covering the bridge or pickups. I feel I must add that the black cover that you 'shopped does look pretty tight. I wouldn't blame you for taking that route.

My position stands with the BAII, but the more I think about it, the more the bridge cover grows on me.

i went with the BadAss II. thats whats on my P, and i think it would take C4 to get the thing off sometimes. sounds great too. i always liked the look of covers, but they seem they would be a hassle when doing string changes and if you need to do any bridge adjustments.

i think the BA bridges look terrible... big, bulky, too industrial looking. bridge covers on a P are class act. i voted bridge cover.

Play the bass a bit before changing the bridge. If its the older model without the baII then the bridge is actually pretty cool. A baII takes away from the essence that is p bass imho

Which is why I like it. I say the BAII.

It depends on how often you change your strings and adjust the action. I've got a bridge cover on my p-bass, but I've pretty much got the action dialed in, and I never ever change the strings.

If you change the strings more than once a year, I'd go with the BAII.

Whatever you do, I'd go all black or all chrome for the hardware, including the pickguard screws. My vote is for chrome, but that's just me.

Go with the ashtray - aesthetically it works much better. The clunky, squared off BAII doesn't blend with the rest of the curves that make up the bass.

if it was me i'd stick a Gotoh 201 bridge on it,they look really cool & work well too.
mind i hate the look of BA bridges.

I don't like the closed-ended bridge covers like the split coil P and the J bass. I prefer the vintage style single coil P-bass type of bridge cover. So I guess I vote for the bridge, though I'd leave that well enough alone if it were my bass.

On second thought,
You already have the BAII, why don't you go with that for starters as it uses the exact screws as the standard fender bass bridge. If you don't like it, you can switch to a standard fender bridge and put on the cover.

Once you drill those holes for the cover, there's no going back.

I'd go BAII. I like both looks, but I think the BAII will help the tone.
