new p-bass neck

Hi All,
I am not sure this is the right section, so in case happy to relocate the thread.

I have a Cort GB-PJ whose truss rod snapped. I would like to put on a new P-bass neck.
Over the years I pimped the electronics with Seymour Duncan pickups and Aguilar preamp. So it is worth saving...plus it was my first bass....
Any experience with ebay sellers?

yes. (i'm the US) i've purchased 6-7 fender-style necks from several ebay sellers (based in china), all in the last 3-4 years, all made and shipped from china, all "cheap" (compared to fender or fender licensed necks), and they're all worthy!

not saying i haven't been lucky --- just saying i've been impressed. i've heard from others on TB that sometimes you have to deal with fret ends or a high fret(s) --- (fretless here) --- but if you can manage those things if/when they occur = a bargain.

i'd guess that you wouldn't get burned if you dealt with a highly-rated seller who has sold a ton of necks.

Yes, welcome. Those necks can be a gamble. There are folks here like @JRA above who have bought several and they have been good. I’ve heard a few negative stories also. At a minimum I’d expect to have to do some fretwork. If the seller has a good return policy I suppose you could return lemons (if you get them, you may not) until you get a good one.

Those necks look like cheap Chinese shite. Don't bother with them.

Are you sure a Fender neck is comparable with a Cort body?

You could buy a used Cort to harvest the neck from, or shift all the upgrades onto a new Cort bass?

The size of the neck is identical to the one of a p bass. The only difference is in the screws positions that are 3mm higher.
I could buy from all parts but as you say an old bass may be more effective. It is just that Cort 30years ago was pretty inconsistent with the quality as well...some basses were really good, most were so so
