New Peavey Fury

I picked up this slant Super Ferret Fury last year for $50. Love the color & hope to redo it this summer in the same color. Enjoy your's

That is REALLY great! What a nice choice of color. I am a huge fan of Peaveys and Furys especially. While similar to a P, the sound is a little more focused and deeper, I think. I had a nice chat with Hartley Peavey a while back and he told me that he had developed a better way to wind pickups that maintained constant tension as the rectangle is wound giving a better wind. THAT may be the reason for the sound difference.

I am STILL kicking myself because I sold a Sunburst Fury with a rosewood fingerboard - the only one I have ever seen. I didn't think anything could sound better than the old white/maple one I still have, with T.I. flats, but I still should have kept it. LOVE the necks.

Excellent job with the refin. Different but not garish. Old-school but not cliche. I like it.

No suprise about the weight. Fury's have a rather slim body that is usually quite light. The Fury, Patriot and Foundation basses could almost be seen as reactions to the considerably heavier T40, 45 and 20 basses which had larger bodies Doesn't hurt the weight that the necks are slim like a Jazz bass also.
The P-style fury basses also seem to balance alot better than the ferrite versions.

Keep in mind, the OP's Fury has a Fender style P pickup.....myself i have a Duncan SPB1 vintage P pickup in my 89 Fury bass

I went on a bass buying bender last week.... Peavey Fury US, Squier P, Fender US 90's and Ive done 2 days and about 15 hours playing them all and the Peavey Maple neck, old 30yr old leaves me kind of awestruck how good it sounds and especially feels to play. Low action but no buzz anywhere? Its like a perfect bass that should cost a lot of money?

I came across it by accident in a trade but wow....Ive played for about 30yrs, not a real bass player but had a Squier J bass for 30yrs thats really survived a lot of comparisons to others...and I still have it too.

This Peavey is the first guitar that has such a well done neck, sleek, great all the way up and down the neck.
My most expensive one I bought feels thick and clunky and I spent hours on it and gave up, its just not ever going to be a great player.

Ive got a Fury with a strange stamped wood serial number, and I understand the logo is the Block type not cursive, its a P-bass.

wow...what a well done bass.
