New Pickups for Ibanez BTB 5 string

Any suggestions on pickup brands for my BTB 5 string? It is a bolt-on neck with Ibanez brand pickups right now(18 volt pre-amp). I'd like it to sound more like my Stingray 5, being that it's my back-up bass. Bartolini? Basslines? EMG? The existing pickups are 1 1/4" by 4 1/2" by the way but I guess they can be routed out. Thanks y'all!

I used to have a BTB with those same pickups and I thought they were fine I got another BTB that came with barts and I couldn't tell any difference. I would think with the preamp you should be able to get a sound that's pretty close without buying new pickups.

If you decide to get new pickups try the SDB SSB-5's, there inbetween EMG's and Bart's and slay them both IMHO the best soapbar out there

I think the btb's are pretty flexable and the stock electronics sound great. My suggestion would be the bass lines for a sound like your ray, or barts for that bass. The barts imo, are s little more clear and piano sounding but very far off from stock. Ibanez had it together when they designed their bass stuff for the most part.

I'm thinking of making some kind of mod. I really like the BTB, but not crazy about the sound of the high end, the little there is. Perhaps different preamp?
