New pickups for Lakland Decade Syline

So I have a Lakland Skyline Decade coming to me pretty cheap, and seeing as I like the bass design, but have no experience with Chi-Sonics, I figured I might have some fun experimenting with some alternate pickups. I'm pretty much a rock guy, mostly pick, warm, big bottom, not to much hunky mids is my thing. So I've thought about everything from Lollars Thunderbird style, to DiMarzio Sheehan style. I really like neck pickup positions for the deep bass. Another option might be to move the bridge chi-sonic to the Precision sweet spot (the bass already has this position routed out, except the previous owner moved the neck to the p-position.

Anyway, any suggestions welcome

The stock Chi-sonics should deliver some of this. They were, in theory, voiced to sound like Hagstrom Bisonic pickups (reissued as Dark Star pickups), so maybe research these a wee bit first? They should have huge bottom end but a very evenly voiced tone. You can dial them in to be as dirty as you need, but they should have a massive output leading to dirt by default.

Hunky mids will be there aplenty with the Sheehan 'Will Power' neck pickup. Plus, you would have to route the bass to accommodate these pickups, so it would be a one way trip.

I won't argue that experimenting with pickups changing isn't fun, but you might just want to gain some experience with those Chi-Sonics. They might sound great and do just what you want them to.

If you don't like them, look into Bill Lawrence L90s. They sound really good on bass. I've been researching them for a build and they seem perfect for rock
