I emailed WD music uk and although they don't have the PJ version on their website they said they had the template to make one but when it arrived it the screws around the outside where in the right place but the p pups where quite a long way off and there was no hole for the switch

New PJ Mustang at Summer NAMM

They told me they had cut the scratch plate from the wrong template and will now be using the template below and sending me a new one asap. When it arrives in a couple of weeks I'll let you know whether it fits and upload a photo
Glad they're sending you a new one, that's terrible.
Also, here's a soundclip/doodle with the Mustang. There are multiple tracks of bass in spots, the 'clean' ones are only running through a Diamond BCP-1 and an Aggy THDI.

I judt got the Torino Red version yesterday new for $350 (it had a small chip on the back). All around, its a winner. Actually arrived in tune and set-up perfectly.
I had played one at GC before they decided to raise the action to an umplayable level.....you know how that place is.
Anyhoo.
I changed the strings, added dunlop locks and thats about all I'll modify.
However. The wiring was a mess. Grounds not seated right andvthe toggle's bridge pickup lead was shorted. All the wires were twisted.....just a sorry sight.
I was tracing a ground issue and it lead to the pickguard. I added copper foil under the entire guard and it's cured.
If I knew that the QC issues with a bass (standard retail of $550) was thisvbad i would never have bought it. But, at $350, I can let it go.

Yep, I think we know why he got it $200 off retail. Wasn't just a small chip. It was used and somebody messed with it. Probably why it was also in tune and perfectly set up.
You might be right about that, however i got the full warranty. I haven't seen many used and the ones I have were over $400.
The wiring is fixed and that cost me nothing. Still a great little bass.
Mine is a thick and solid color.
About the other stuff - as long as you knew how to fix stuff yourself,
without having to pay to have it done, I'd say you got a good deal on that bass.
Thats good but where did you get this from? They sold it to you "new" for $350, $200 under what they sell for, and you found shotty (possibly tampered with) wiring and your Torino red is translucent. Are you sure its a legitimate Fender Mustang and not a knock off?

It's not a knock off.
It is possible, that although it's a fine playing and sounding instrument, Fender QC can be terrible.
Since it's s poly finish it won't fade much and keep it out of the sunlight just in case.
I wished Fender chose two other finishes that weren't similar. Sonic and white are too cloise to some people's eyes. Maybe it's the minty-ness of the guards.
Thats one reason why I went with Torino but I like the Sonic too.
