New PJ Mustang at Summer NAMM

Yeah, the Capri Orange looks good. I had no idea they were releasing it until my shop got one in. They also got a pink Mustang guitar in stock at the same time. Hopefully Fender releases some of their other basses in the expanded color line.
Anyone have recommendations for drop in bridges and tuners? I palm mute a lot and the screws for the saddle adjustment are quite sharp. Maybe I should just file them? Also the tuners on these are not the best, at least the one I got. It's a bit rough when turning. I love everything else about it so I don't want to return it.

I really wish these had been available earlier, I'd have bought orange over red.
So it goes. I'm getting my red one back from being defretted tonight!
Hipshot HB-10's are drop in... I have them on mine. Pretty sure any Fender (type) 5-hole bridge would work- although I haven't changed mine... just tuners, pickups & pickguard. I'm sure Jason (BSO) can add one to the tuner order

The tuners are great- definitely an upgrade (have Hipshots on two other Fender's)... the pg came from another TB'er @pudge ... he had it made, somewhere, may see if he could advise where to get one?

I want one of the orange ones too. I looked on the Fender site and they only have the three original colors available. When are the new colors hitting the streets? Any other new colors available?

I've been away from the forum for a while, but did anyone else notice this? Is sort of reminds me of Sheehan's Attitude. The new Orange is pretty sweet too. I kinda miss mine since I sold it earlier this year.

I finally tried one of these PJ Mustangs on Friday. I had a good bash on one, through one of those new 100 watt Fender Rumble amps. I wish Fender made these with just the P pickup. The solo'd jazz pickup was alright if a bit weak and twangy, and the middle position wasn't all that exciting, with a nasty sort of burp in the mids. The solo'd P pickup was righteous. A lot of low end, girth and bite for a shortscale bass. Definitely better than the feeble unit that was in my MIJ Mustang bass. A bigger pickup with a bigger aperture and a few more turns of wire is definitely what the Mustang platform benefits from, in my opinion. Beyond that you can also stick all sorts of aftermarket P pickups in these Mustangs, whereas there are only two or three replacements for the orthodox Mustang pickup.
On the bass I played, the two P pickup halves were canted at a more extreme angle than the radius of the neck requires, and the three way switch was already a bit crackly and intermittent in the middle setting. The fretboard was a bit dry and the action was a bit high. I would remove the roundwounds pretty quickly as well.
Were I to buy one, I would probably get a new pickguard cut without the 3-way switch. I would make the tone control a push/pull switch that solo'd the bridge pickup when pulled and solo'd the P pickup when in pushed into the normal position. I thought the 3-way was a bit prominent and unsightly, and it was already giving reliability issues (oddly the pickup switch was also on the road to ruin on a new Starfire guitar I tried at the same time).
