New prog/fusion album ft. Michael Manring

Last weekend my new album "Juvenile Fish Tales" was released on Subcontinental Records from India. First Bandcamp and physical CD and later Spotify and other streaming. I play 4 and 6-string fretless and fretted bass, guitar and sitar on it.

Very proud that my bass hero Michael Manring is a guest on the album, doing a very nice fretless bass part and Ebow solo on track 7. Also we made a video together which will be released soon. Also four different drummers and some other guests are on the album. It's an instrumental concept album about Fish. Hope you like it! Let me know if you will. Best Wishes, Barend Tromp

I like those players you mention! It's not my intention to sound like them though but one cannot deny ones influences of course. But influences can come from anywhere. It might be my interest in Indian and world music.

WOW!! Seriously blown away by this track! Definitely see the Karn influence but you definitely have your own voice. I absolutely see the Eastern music influence here as well, which is a huge part of its overall vibe. A great clash of cultures all made into a real treat. Looking forward to listening to the album!

The song in the link is probably the most Eastern/Karn-like, the other songs less so I think. You can click on the top side of the picture in the first post to check the other songs on Bandcamp, or go to the link in my signature. Let me know what you think of the other songs if you will. :thumbsup:

That's strange. When I type my name in Bandcamp both albums show up.

I am really curious what your opinion is when you compare both album. Do you notice any style difference? Which one do you prefer? Best wishes, Barend

Very cool. I'd commented on the individual posting for the track that features Michael Manring. I'd mentioned that I thought he was giving a nod to Mick Karn and David Torn, but after hearing this, I realize he was fitting in with you.

Great stuff! Purchased and shared.
