New PU's for Status/TE T-Bass

hi.
i have a mid 90's t-bass 5 string. it sounds awesome, but two things bugs me:

1.the volume difference between both pu's on and only one pu (bridge or neck, whatever) on.

2. this thing with the dummy-coil is not 100% hum free.

now, i want new pu's (humbucker in j-form) and maybe a new preamp. sound like the original "hyperactive" pu's would be great.

any suggestions for pu's?

thanks
sven

hi jazz ad, thank you for your answer.
the status 5 string j-pu's (that type with ears) are only as single coils available.
the q-tuners haven't the right size... :(
today i tested some old bartolinis...nice, but the status pu's are stronger and more clear.
tomorrow i will test an old emg j-set...

i tested the emg j-set...i like them in my diy fretless, but in the t-bass they sucked:
treble is good, mid and bass a little bit wimpy, artificial. they sounds compressed.
and, my stringspace is to big for them.

did somebody know the sound of seymour duncan's ajb in comparison to the emg j-set?
