Anyone else order one yet? As a huge fan of Al Cisneros, and the first Giza pedal, I am beyond tickled pink to get my hands on this new iteration of an already phenomenal circuit.

I've had mine for about a week and a half. I think it's fantastic. I got it mainly for the Matamp pre but the drive sounds are great and there's so many different tones available depending how you blend things. Also, I really dig the fuzz. It's not a Muff but it's huge sounding.

I'd also like to mention how great Steve is to deal with. My first Giza DVA showed up damaged. FedEx broke the presence knob and put a big gouge in the enclosure. I emailed Steve asking if I should file a claim with FedEx and he said I'll send you another pedal with a bag and prepaid shipping label to return the damaged one. I had the replacement 3 days after receiving the damaged pedal.

FedEx delivered this today. I've only had about 15 minutes to check it out so far, but what I'm hearing so far sounds really good. Scattered first impressions:

• Packaging isn't flashy, just a simple cardboard box. Aside from the pedal, it comes with a handful of stickers and a jacket patch of a fiddling monkey (I don't know the significance of the monkey, if anyone does please tell me)
• The pedal feels really nice. It's heavier than I expected, the knob action is super smooth, nothing feels loose or rattles.
• Lots and lots of controls on this thing. I played around a bit and they all feel pretty useful. My only gripe is that with gain and distortion turned up, the volume has to go WAY down to a point where a tiny movement in either direction changes the volume pretty significantly. But with gain and distortion lower, it has a nice wide useable sweep.
• The Matamp preamp alone (Hreem all the way down, Anahata off) sounds really nice, and gets pleasingly crunchy when the gain goes up.
• I don't care much for the Dvaita (balance between the DOD 250 and Boss DS-1 circuits) turned all the way to either extreme, but blended together they sound really nice. Hats off to the guys at Does it Doom for that.
• The silicon fuzz (Anahata stomp switch) is set to a pretty high saturation level. I like it better than other silicon fuzzes I've tried, which is fortunate because it's not adjustable beyond turning it on and off
• Speaking of on/off, the printing on the pedal's master on/off is actually an OM/OFF, which is appropriate for an Al Cisneros pedal.
• Yes, it dooms

Bottom line... I like it, very flexible dirt box with a lot ways to tweak it, and for something as complex as it is the whole sound comes together really well. I'm quite happy with it!

One last item of note - the dimensions given on the website are 4.75" x 2.625" x 2.375", the middle number (width) is actually 3.625. I emailed to let them know.

The Pharaoh is pretty cool too - I have the non-deluxe version - but if I have to bump a pedal off my board to make room for it, that's probably the one that's going to go, just because it's my current "filthy" dirt pedal

I appreciate that Does it Doom? acknowledged that Nick Dunwich designed the circuit.

I always wanted the Dunwich matamp pedal, but this has that plus a favourite drive to blend in (I love a 250 on bass). I much prefer this than the 1 knob version they released a while back.

If my budget allowed, this would be an instant buy.

I saw it as a decent value because not only do you get a preamp, you also get 3 other drives. I rarely buy pedals and I've never spent this amount on one but the Giza DVA was totally worth it.

Bonus points, set up the DVA Matamp as you like and run the Giza V1 into it. Sounds great throughout the entire V1 sweep.

But yes, I agree about it being a reasonably good deal considering how versatile it is.

I am running mine at 18v for some headroom so the drive and distortion knobs have a little more sweep before going absolutely crazy.

One thing I wish we could a matamp preamp only then a switch to trigger the parallel distortion/dirt. I quite like the matamp preamp without the dirt and would love to be able to turn on separately.

I never know how to tell if it's safe to run a pedal at 18v (unless it says so, of course).

This week I finally received my Giza Dva, and I gotta say, it’s everything I hope for and more.

For starters, the Matamp section is spot on and spectacular on bass. The best I’ve tried yet

The Hreem circuit is faithfully similar and the extra tweakability is awesome.

Lastly, loving the Anahata so far as well.

Overall, this is an amazing Matamp emulator, but more importantly, allows you to nail nearly all Al Cisneros’ tones over the years. My only wish is that manual were more specific on each toggle switch position.

I put mine to the real test today when I went over to jam with a drummer friend from work.

I haven't played music with other people on a while for a variety of reasons, and it felt really good to get back into it. I brought my board with the Giza on it, playing through my Ric 4003W in stereo. I had the Giza on the treble (bridge) pickup path and it just ROARED when I kicked it on. My friend was loving the sound too. What a fantastic way to get back into playing with people again!
