New release by Does It Doom; the Giza Dva

Got mine yesterday and it baffled me for awhile. Are anyone else's jacks labeled backwards? Amp stage right and instrument stage left.

Either way, it sounds amazing when running it correctly.

Huh… haven’t noticed that yet but will check later!

After a week of owning one, I am still head over heels for the sound it provides. Sleep and Om tones for days

FedEx delivered this today. I've only had about 15 minutes to check it out so far, but what I'm hearing so far sounds really good. Scattered first impressions:

  • Packaging isn't flashy, just a simple cardboard box. Aside from the pedal, it comes with a handful of stickers and a jacket patch of a fiddling monkey (I don't know the significance of the monkey, if anyone does please tell me)
  • The pedal feels really nice. It's heavier than I expected, the knob action is super smooth, nothing feels loose or rattles.
  • Lots and lots of controls on this thing. I played around a bit and they all feel pretty useful. My only gripe is that with gain and distortion turned up, the volume has to go WAY down to a point where a tiny movement in either direction changes the volume pretty significantly. But with gain and distortion lower, it has a nice wide useable sweep.
  • The Matamp preamp alone (Hreem all the way down, Anahata off) sounds really nice, and gets pleasingly crunchy when the gain goes up.
  • I don't care much for the Dvaita (balance between the DOD 250 and Boss DS-1 circuits) turned all the way to either extreme, but blended together they sound really nice. Hats off to the guys at Does it Doom for that.
  • The silicon fuzz (Anahata stomp switch) is set to a pretty high saturation level. I like it better than other silicon fuzzes I've tried, which is fortunate because it's not adjustable beyond turning it on and off
  • Speaking of on/off, the printing on the pedal's master on/off is actually an OM/OFF, which is appropriate for an Al Cisneros pedal.
  • Yes, it dooms
Bottom line... I like it, very flexible dirt box with a lot ways to tweak it, and for something as complex as it is the whole sound comes together really well. I'm quite happy with it!

The monkey was on Iommi‘s legendary 64 SG. If Does it Doom? finally does a logo with Geezers face instead of Tonys, i sure gonna buy the hell out of the merch store! :)

Could be, that's easy to test at least if you can take it to another location. For what it's worth I have one light switch in my house that creates a loud buzz when it's on, and it has nothing to do with being plugged in because it happens even when I'm using a battery powered headphone amp. You could try turning light switches off and on to see if that makes any difference.

Now I'm totally shooting in the dark, but try swapping cables, disconnecting any other pedals you have before an after, different basses etc just to eliminate as many culprits as possible. If none of that changes it, you can reach out to them on their website for help

Just out of curiosity, how do you have your other knobs set on it when you turn the volume down and get a hum?
