New rig help

Hi guys, i've been reading for a while, opinions and the like on heads and enclosures. I am going to upgrade from a ampeg b2r head and ****ty enclosure.

I have decided to go with the Ampeg svt pro 4 head. It is being ordered, so will arrive in a few weeks. To go with this, i am currently looking at a couple of mesa powerhouse cabs to go with it.

I am looking at the power house 4 x 10, and a power house 1 x 15. Just checking to see that these powers will match up. Both of those add up to 1000w, where the head is about 1400 at 4 ohm i think. These are compatible right?

And would the speakers be fine if i were to run just a 4 x 10 with that head, or would there be too much power in the head. Opinions and reviews on the gear would be appreciated, as well as any information you have regarding the power.

Thanks for your help, i feel i've come to the right place, you all seem quite knowledgable.

Thanks again
Ben

Yes. Perfectly compatible as long as your cabs are no lower than 4 ohms combined.

It would be fine. There is no such thing as owning too much power, only using too much power. Just listen to your tone as you play. Just because your amp might be able to put out 1400w doesn't mean that it is doing so at all times. How much power it is actually putting out depends on how much you are turned up and how you are eq'ed.

Opinions and reviews on the gear would be appreciated, as well as any information you have regarding the power.

Thanks for the reply joe, i am glad you liked the stroking of the ego.. lol. Those cabs should be fine then both at 8 ohms individually. Thanks, just wanted to be sure, sometimes music storescan be a little condescending
Yeah, I think that in general, most music store salesmen suck. But every once in a while you run across a salesman who does you good.

There is only ONE salesman in a 50 mile radius that I trust in my area. And as far as I know I have visited all the stores. (Which in this area is not that many.)
