New Sire P8 Active/Passive - if the bass is put in Passive mode will it still drain the battery if cable remains plugged into bass? Thanks!

yes, similar to all other passive/active basses. likely you can take out the battery if you always keep it in passive.

You could add a switch that disconnects the battery ground from the cable ground, but otherwise 99% of instruments compete the battery circuit anytime a cable is plugged in and so power will drain.

Thanks for all the responses - taking batteries out works but a separate switch or auto-recognition in passive mode would be nice since there are 2 batteries to replace and I often forget to pull the cable!

Careful though.
This often results in a loud pop in the PA. Soundguys won't like it!

True, though you just need to learn to flip the switch before plugging in!

Do you remember to engage the park brake when you park your car?
Learn to unplug the bass when you're not using it, it will be better for you in the long run as the bass cable can't be tripped over, knocking down the bass wherever it mat be.
