New Stambaugh 8 String

I love Stambaughs. I'm driving up there to interview him and talk about my custom that I want. My brother is a plumber and had to do some work at Chris's house. He didn't know who he was at first, until he went in the basement. That's where he does all his work. I haven't met the guy yet, but when I do, I'll take some pictures of your bass Mark. I'm eager to see it. Congratulations!

I'd appreciate that Joe, but he probably wont start cutting wood on it until November.

Here's the latest.... Work has begun and Chris will most likely have the woodwork done and the bass sent to the finisher by the end of this month. Looks like it's going to be buckeye for the top and headstock. Hopefully I'll have some pics to post up soon!!

Doh! :( Hopefully Chris gets a new source. I noticed [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] as the first hit on a Google search.

Can't wait to see the finished product. Hope the added wait isn't too painful.

Hey Mark,

Is the string spacing on your Stambaugh (9mm spacing cen. to cen. @ nut, 17mm spacing @ bridge) the same as your 2 conklins? The Stambaugh neck appears wider than your Conklins in the photo, but it could appear wider because of the neck in relation to the body.

I'm still wrestling with the idea if I can tighten my spacing up a bit (I've currently put my specs in with 17mm @ bridge as well).

Yes the spacing is the same as on my Conklins... The spacing on the bass pictured here is wider; 18mm IIRC (maybe 19mm) according to Mark Roberts, the owner. I've found that spacing (17mm) to be very comfortable.

Aaahhh!!! Then my eyes weren't playing tricks on me. Cool...thanks much. I believe the 17mm will do the trick for me.
