Double Bass New Standard Ruggeri?

I've seen lots on the LaScala and Cleveland on the forums, with the odd mention of the Pamplona (?) but never really anything about the Ruggeri model.

Any New Standard fans know the differences of this model vs. say the LaScala? I *think* the LaScala only came with a round back, whereas this has a canted flat back. Anything else?

As the owner of two LaScalas, from the front it looks like a LaScala. I have two of them in the room where I'm sitting and eyeballing it I can't see any difference. I did have a laminate LaScala once with a flat back, though. I'm not a fan of flat backs because of the way the bracing interrupts vibrations sent to the body where we touch the bass, so I sold it to a student who still plays it to this day. She loves that bass and will never part with it.

Maybe not pertinent to specifics of your post but I have a 2003 new standard. The person I bought it from purchased the bass from Arnold Schnizter’s shop and was told it was a “ruggeri model”. But it is a carved bass (ash back and sides) and with a round back.

So at least back then, the models had more variation in construction and design? Are there currently carved versions of the hybrid models, such as la scala?

I got a bass from Romania and they had a few models with Ash back and sides..and Rogeri model.
