Ok, so Ive played bass for a while now, but I went through basses so often trying to find one I like that I havent wore down strings enough to have to buy new ones. I have an active 5 string peavey bass that I love because I can make it get LOOOOOOOOOOOOW. Can anyone recomend a good 5 string set, for a low smooth sound? I play blues country and rock, and I like the feel of roundwounds but can probably sacrifice. I want a low tone, not super bright, as I dont care for slapping and popping and such, just a nice smooth sound with plenty of lows and low mids and good sustain. the sustain is kind of a must too....any help is greatly appreciated

I think that have new strings is always a good thing to make a great sound. Also if U don´t care about slap or bright. With new strings you can handle the sound in the switches and the amp to get ypur blues right one. That´s what I think (and sorry for my awfull english please)
You'll have to try several brands and types and gauges before you know for sure what you like. Try something like Ernie Ball Slinky's for a starter/
If you like a smooth tone, D'Addario Chromes. Smoothness from here to Kingdom Come! They can also get some nice bright top-end, not harsh. They sound great pick or fingerstyle.
