New SX Jazz Bass

Welcome to the SX family! I have a Ursa 1 that I'm actually picking up from my local shop today as I had Steve Harris Seymour Duncan's installed. Only mod I've made to it so far. Honestly, didn't really even need it. Just wanted to do it. Plan to pick up a particular Ursa 2 when it comes back in stock.

Thanks! I'm already looking online at others! I actually posted my fender deluxe active on Craigslist. Never was in love with it and would personally rather a couple SXs

Congrats and welcome. I thought about picking one up, actually, like the one you have. I really dig the natural look with black blocks in the neck. So you say you have a Fender. Can you expand on what Fender you have and what you are comparing between the two? I would like to pick up an SX and just need a little push. From what I hear, those basses are a real bang for the buck. I bought a Tele knock-off from the same company about a year ago and was pretty much happy with it after I did a lot od work unfortunately. But hey, my time is free and I still spent a ton less than buying the real deal. I do have a real deal Fender bass and just wanted to know how it compares. No feathers ruffled here. Ha, ha.

Yes I want to preface that this is just my personal opinion and I'm sure I will be judged for it... I have a MIM fender deluxe active jazz. I find that with the SX I am able to get a wider variety of tones etc. Also I am amazed with the quality. I play through a GK backline 210 and am very happy.

Great thanks. I have an American Deluxe Jazz that it killed me to pay so much for, that is my number one. I really like it and have zero buyer's remorse over. Again, personal opinion, it provides me with a whole spectrum of tone as well. It is good to hear that your SX does that for you as well. Food for thought for me for sure. Thanks again and enjoy that good lookin bass.

Is that fretboard birdseye maple?!?! In any case, nice score! I love my SX jazz (an Ursa model, ash with bound/blocked maple neck and board). The only mods I've done are new flatwound strings, strap locks, and I recently rewired the pickups from parallel to series (described in a post in the club thread). Rock on, Bob

What kind of Fender do you have?
