BTW Rondo's electric guitars section does take custom orders - you could order a bass VI design through it, for instance - but I believe it's for Agile base models, not SX, which come through a different manufacturer (in Korea).

Interesting info: I assumed Rondo only sold Chinese instruments. Do Agile make any basses? I can seem to find info. Maybe I'll ask Rondo. I'd be up for one if they do a short scale.

SX is Chinese, Agile is Korean; I believe the newer Hadean and Omega stuff is Chinese too but from a different manufacturer than Team Intl. Not sure about Douglas and Brice but I think they may be Korean.

I don't have an ear for it. However, it DOES PISS ME OFF that my hand stained ash Fender is a 3-PIECE!!! I have been holding back from SX for too long now - -- I'm losing grip of my cheap assedness and going to have to pull the trigger soon. It will most likely be Andromeda in natural.

Yes I agree, but there's lots of variations with Ash body weight. The good stuff weights almost nothing at all, they not so good stuff (sounds the same btw) weighs an awful lot. So I'm assuming that the ash found in your Fender is a cost conscious but very light 3 piece body but the ash found in the SX is a cheaper, heavier but one piece body. The two are not equal in this regard. While the one piece slab of ash will look better on the eye, it's only aesthetics. It will be heavier and cheaper.

I used European heavy ash for a hollowed out bass I built about 15 years ago. I figured, that hollowing it out would negate the really heavy weight. It didn't come close. I have a premium swamp ash body blank (2 piece) that literally weighs next to nothing....but this bass I built is one of the heaviest I've built so far. So I'm even considering re-making the body in swamp ash at some point, which is tricky because it's an all though neck.

My Brice HXB-405 was made by Agile in South Korea. I bought it from Rondo about two years ago.
