New to Board, Thinking about gettin acoustic bass

Hey all, I just signed onto the board, but I have been lurking for a while now.

I have been learning to play bass for about a year now and have gotten fairly good (for an amature), and am thinking abut getting an acoustic/electric bass that is sitting in my local music shop. It is a Beaver Creek 4 string (unsure of exact model) for about $450 cnd. I sat down and played it for a bit the other day and really liked it, how it felt, the look etc.

I don't know anything at all about acoustic insruments, as all my experiance has been with electric basses, so any help as to what to look for in an acoustic bass would be really appreciated. Also I haven't been able to find a web page for the Beaver Creek brand so if anyone can link me to one that would be great.

My advice is to check the intonation to see that it isn't terribly sharp in the higher frets. Do a harmonic on the 12th and then fret the note to see if there is much difference.
Also I've heard that the piezo impedence is weird, and to use it with a regular bass amp you might want to use a DI box which is very cheap. Also a "feedback buster" might be helpful for ampd playing.

Thanks bearfoot, ha never thought of that I just googled Beaver Creek and also couldnt find it through the D'Addario site. I think I am going to buy this acoustic, it seems to play very nice....... although just about anything does compared to my old Squire.
